“My Giving is My Means of Receiving”

“My Giving is My Means of Receiving”

What does it mean to give? Isn’t it ironic that my means of receiving is my giving? Weird as it seems but this is what I believe is true.

[Psalm 33:4 “For the word of the Lord is right, and all His work is done in truth.”] As I grow up I learned and saw from my parents that our family is sustained due to the commitment and obedience our family swore to God which is to follow Him in ways we can. [Matthew 6:32 “…for your Heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. 33. But seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you. 34. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.”]

I believe that when God created the world it was meant for us His creation thus it is rightful to give thanks and honor Him through giving what is due to Him. Just as it was written in John 1:1 “That in the beginning was His word and the word was with God, and the word was God.” And in John 1:3 “All things were made through Him and without Him nothing was made that were made.” It’s just right, don’t you think? You might say and think that I’m too confident, but why wouldn’t I? If I knew that God’s word is settled in Heaven [Psalm 119:89]. Also, just as His word to the Israelites in the old testaments sort of a warning, encouragement and prophecy that the grass may withers, the flowers may fade but, the word of our God stands forever [Isaiah 40:8] a great promise to hold on that Gods word written in the bible stands forever and is true to every generation since God is faithful to His promises [1 Corinthians 1:9].

Anyway, going back to the question “What does it mean to give?” I would like to share the things which for me are the answer to this question. I hope that it will encourage you just as it encourages me. When I heard and learned the principle of sowing and reaping [found in Mark 4] I was enlightened that it is indeed real that “What you sow you will reap” just as a farmer sowing seeds on the ground and after many days grows and bear fruits. This became my foundation in my giving furthermore, when I read that since I have freely recieved (many things or everything if thats so) i should freely give as well. [Matthew 10:8] And why not? It’s because just as the song goes “ Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.”

I might act as if its too easy for me to give well to be honest its not there are things to consider and there are also times where i hesitate but i thank God because He has been helping me to do what is right through his word [bible], family and significant others. It’s a process but since i was able to start [one at a time] eventually it has been somehow a habit and I made a choice which I think is the first thing to do.

I have here the photos of the envelopes where I place my tithes or the 10% of all the income I’m receiving every week (this includes my pocket money in going to university and etc.) it’s not much but this is my giveback to God (the “action” of what I have been telling). I believe that what God has said in Malachi 3:10

Bring all the tithes into the storehouse,

That there may be food in My house,
And try Me now in this,”
      Says the LORD of hosts,

“ If I will not open for you the windows of heaven
And pour out for you such blessing
That there will not be room enough to receive it.
11 “ And I will rebuke the devourer for your sakes,
So that he will not destroy the fruit of your ground,
Nor shall the vine fail to bear fruit for you in the field,”
      Says the LORD of hosts;
12 And all nations will call you blessed,
For you will be a delightful land,”
      Says the LORD of hosts.

and His promises here will happen for me. It’s a matter of believing and going beyond what your mind is telling you. [see Romans 8, Romans 8:6]. Here comes why my giving is my means of receiving…and God has proven it to me that indeed God is faithful to His promises. [Psalm 145:13]

I hope that as I share these things you will be encouraged giving to others especially to God through giving to the needy and to the church. I believe that more than celebrating the season of giving its better that we make every season a season of giving.
